In a recent development, the federal government of Pakistan has taken decisive steps to enhance the security of Chinese citizens engaged in projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other initiatives in the country.
A high-level meeting convened at the Ministry of Interior addressed security concerns for Chinese businessmen and citizens, presided over by Additional Secretary Interior Khushal Khan. The meeting saw the participation of chief secretaries from all provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, along with the Chinese ambassador and investors.
As part of the heightened security measures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the protection of Chinese investors and citizens have been revised. The chief secretaries of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan have been directed to intensify security measures for Chinese nationals within their respective regions.
During the meeting, Additional Secretary Khushal Khan emphasized the importance of Chinese citizens adhering to the revised SOPs during their movements. He urged them to promptly inform the relevant police stations about their presence at any location and their travel plans. Additionally, the secretary advised Chinese nationals to use bullet-proof vehicles for their movements to mitigate potential security risks.
