KARAK: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has unveiled a multi-million-rupee development package for Union Council Latambar in District Karak, focusing on roads, street infrastructure, and commercial growth.

Provincial Agriculture Minister Major (R) Muhammad Sajjad Barakwal made the announcement during a visit to the area, crediting PTI Chairman Imran Khan and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur for backing what he called “a new phase of progress” for Karak district.

Road Upgrades and Urban Improvements

The plan allocates Rs100 million for new PCC streets and includes upgrades to key roads connecting Latambar with surrounding villages. Among the projects:

  • A 4 km reconstruction of Shobli Banda–Latambar Road
  • Development of Akarwala Road
  • 2 km rehabilitation each of Tor Adam Banda–Zarif Khel Road and Arl Adam Kalla Road

Barakwal also promised urban beautification initiatives, installation of modern streetlights, and a commercial hub project designed in consultation with local traders to boost economic activity.

Push for Regional Growth

While Karak has long struggled with neglected infrastructure, the minister said this package signals a shift in priorities:

“These developments will ease daily travel, strengthen trade, and create better opportunities for local communities,” he told residents.

Locals welcomed the announcement, noting that if executed on time, these projects could resolve years of transportation and safety challenges.
