In a strategic move to curb rising human trafficking cases, Pakistan is set to establish new overseas offices for its Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Wing in six countries.
Official sources confirm that three of these offices will be based in Europe—specifically in the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy—while the remaining offices will operate in Turkey, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Authorities explained that these countries have been identified as key hubs for trafficking networks targeting Pakistan, with investigations revealing the active role of foreign-based operatives in human smuggling operations. The expanded international footprint aims to disrupt these criminal channels more effectively.
Strengthening International Collaboration
The newly established offices will serve multiple functions, including monitoring travel patterns linked to trafficking, mapping out illicit routes, and coordinating closely with local authorities in host countries. In addition to law enforcement responsibilities, the offices will provide support to legitimate travelers, including tourists and business visitors, helping facilitate smoother entry and exit processes.
FIA officials stressed that this initiative represents a proactive step toward enhancing international cooperation. By placing personnel on the ground in critical locations, Pakistan hopes to dismantle cross-border trafficking networks while ensuring stronger protection for its citizens abroad.
