PRL to Suspend Operations for Maintenance Starting August 17

Share

Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL) will halt production for around two weeks later this month as part of scheduled maintenance work. The company confirmed that a “Regeneration Shutdown” will begin on August 17, 2025, and is expected to last about 15 days.

The announcement was made through a formal notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), alerting TRE Certificate holders of the planned closure. PRL said the move is part of its routine operational upkeep to maintain efficiency and safety standards.

A temporary halt of this nature means all refining activities will remain offline until the process is completed. While such shutdowns can temporarily affect supply logistics, industry sources note they are standard practice for extending plant life and ensuring environmental compliance.

PRL, a subsidiary of Pakistan State Oil Company Limited, has been operating since 1960 and plays a key role in Pakistan’s petroleum supply chain. The company produces a range of refined petroleum products for domestic consumption.
