The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has addressed inquiries related to the upcoming Hajj in order to assist pilgrims.
In a video shared on the ministry’s social media account on Monday, the spokesperson emphasized the necessity of a valid Pakistani passport for Hajj.
‘Passport of any country except Pakistan is not acceptable for this year’s Hajj,’ clarified the spokesperson.
For those applying through the Sponsorship Scheme, the spokesperson stated that they can switch their ‘Maktab’ to category C by paying an additional $300. However, regular applicants cannot change their ‘Maktab.’
‘Those opting for the Long Hajj package will have their flights scheduled before those choosing the Short Hajj,’ said the spokesperson. ‘Short Hajj Package flights will be scheduled after the 15th Zu al-Qa’dah.’
Overseas Pakistanis without a bank account can open an Asaan account upon arrival in Pakistan to facilitate reimbursement if there are changes in the cost of Hajj.
‘A bank account is mandatory for those applying through the regular Hajj scheme from within Pakistan,’ added the official.
Regarding accommodation preferences, the official explained that individuals desiring a single room with a double bed would need to pay Rs 180,000 per person. For those applying through the Sponsorship Scheme for a double bed room, an additional cost of $635 per person applies.
‘For a group of three seeking a single room with three beds, the cost is Rs 60,000 per person or $215 per person through the Sponsorship Scheme,’ clarified the ministry’s official.
In response to a question about the higher cost of the Short Hajj, the official attributed it to the peak season, noting that both residence and round-trip tickets are more expensive during that period. He highlighted that even pilgrims from other countries choosing the Short Hajj incur higher costs than those opting for the regular Long Hajj.
It is important to note that the government will start accepting Hajj applications from November 27th, and the process will continue until December 12th.
