The United Nations (UN) issued a stern warning on Saturday, highlighting the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip due to Israel’s persistent military attacks and increased isolation.
In a statement posted on the social networking site X, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) expressed, “The situation in Gaza is deteriorating by the minute and every hour. Thousands of people, including our colleagues, are losing their lives due to bombs and strikes.”
The UNRWA report revealed that the ongoing Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip has resulted in the tragic deaths of more than 100 UNRWA employees. In honor of these victims, UN flags worldwide were lowered to half-mast at UN offices on Monday.
A second statement from UNRWA emphasized, “The consequences of the imposed siege will lead to more deaths soon.”
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the UN organization stressed, “Maintaining a cease-fire is crucial to saving what remains of our humanity.”
Tragically, an Israeli army strike on a UNRWA-affiliated school in northern Gaza on Saturday resulted in numerous casualties among the displaced Palestinian population residing in the school.
As per the latest statistics, the toll from Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza since October 7 has surpassed 12,000 Palestinians, including more than 8,300 women and children, with over 30,000 additional individuals sustaining injuries.
