Foreign Passport Holders and Aid Cross Into Egypt from Gaza

The Israeli army has intensified its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since the weekend, in response to the surprise offensive by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7. Egyptian media broadcasted footage of vehicles, trucks, and ambulances making their way from Gaza into Egypt through the Rafah terminal.

A Palestinian official confirmed that 110 foreign passport holders departed the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing into Egypt. Additionally, 17 ambulances carrying Palestinians injured in Israeli attacks also crossed into Egypt through the terminal. Wael Abu Mohsen, the media director of the Rafah border crossing, reported the movement of these individuals and stated, “Some 110 foreign passport holders left the strip.”

Dozens of foreigners and Palestinians with dual citizenship gathered on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing in an effort to leave the Gaza Strip, which has faced continuous Israeli airstrikes since October 7 following a cross-border attack by Hamas. Abu Mohsen disclosed that on the same day, 20 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid entered Gaza via the Rafah crossing, bringing the total number of aid trucks over the past week to 237.
